Last year, Grace Center served over 800 family members at three locations in the San Gabriel Valley.
Grace Center staff and volunteers provided a variety of services to survivors of domestic violence and their children. Grace Center volunteers collectively donated over 3,500 hours of service last year.
• 95% of all spousal abuse cases are women abused by their male partners. • Women are 10 times more likely to be victimized by domestic violence
Because of these statistics, Grace Center refers to domestic violence survivors as women in this document. The agency's services are available to all domestic violence survivors – both male and female, English
and Spanish. When a potential client contacts Grace Center, a staff member or trained volunteer talks with her over the phone to assess in what ways Grace Center can be of assistance. The
client is invited to Grace Center and is welcomed into the living room of a small house. It is a relaxing, comfortable room with a lively mural on the wall and plenty of toys on the shelves for children, if she has any, to play with. There is also an outdoor play area with a climbing structure and gazebo. A volunteer supervises the children while the client meets with an advocate in a separate room to further assess her situation.
Legal Services Grace
Center's legal advocate helps in the preparation of documents, court proceedings, and accompanies the client to court as advocate and support person for restraining orders, divorce proceedings, and other legal documents.
Grace Center also provides Spanish translation services as needed. Child Assessments Grace Center's child's therapist helps to assess how the situation at home is affecting the children. Children living in a household with domestic violence often exhibit an
increase in anger and depression. The therapist also helps identify and connect the client with child therapy services. Food, Shelter, Supplies Grace Center can supply some food, clothing, and toilet articles and
also advocate in locating low-cost housing. Referrals are made if emergency shelter or additional resources are needed. Click here
